It is always an honour when you are asked by a family to produce wedding flowers for a number of their family weddings. When I had my first consultations with Carolynne and started to design her wedding flowers, this was the third family wedding I had designed for. Each wedding was a pleasure and the family a joy to work with.

Carolynne’s wedding colours and fine detail were very soft and romantic and I was keen that the flowers would reflect this, helping to set the tone of the day.

Carolynne and I chose very soft, pretty and mostly quite traditional wedding flowers to compliment the overall theme of the wedding and details such as the pretty lace and bow detailing on the brides and bridesmaids dresses. The colours were key to the design, mixing just the right shades of ivory and soft pinks.

I was personally delighted with the final results, as were Carolynne and her family. However, when I saw the photographs by photographer, Paula O’Hara, I must admit I was bowled over by the overall effect and the beautiful photography.

I am often asked what my favourite style is and my answer (and the truth) is that I really don’t have one. I design wedding flowers for each bride and their tastes and my favourite wedding flowers are the ones that bring out the identity and personal tastes of the bride and groom, helping to set the tone of the wedding.

My favourites therefore swing from ultra classic and romantic to the most contemporary, from neutral colours to the most zingy colour combinations of them all.  This makes the job of choosing a small selection of bouquets to provide for a photo shoot that is representative of my style a difficult task!

After much agonising over shapes of bouquets, colour mixes and flower varieties the final selection was made. And not to forget the all important grooms, a buttonhole to match each bouquet was also designed. My aim was to get a mix of classic and more contemporary bouquets and use the photo shoot to test run (and photograph) a few designs that have only existed in my head up to now.

After a long day of shooting, Aidan very kindly took the time to photograph each of the bouquets and buttonholes in detail, which you can see below.
